Jump Back to About Us Page What is CypherStyles Story? The year was 2005. The sound was the loud "CRACK! CRACK! CRACK!" echoing through the halls of Barry "BBoy GRIZ" Rabkin's college dorm. The source was Griz banging his head against his computer monitor. Griz had a simple desire. Griz wanted to get his hands on street dance instructional videos, battle dvds and protective gear to share with his street dance crew. Unfortunately, all the underground hip hop dance products online were only sold individually by individual dancers and event promoters. Credit card security was questionable and their shipping and customer service were slow or non-existant. Each product was sold independently. So if you wanted to get 5 different videos you had to separately find and checkout at 5 different websites and pay separate shipping for each product! To make things even worse, many stores ripped off the ACTUAL creators and sold customers flawed bootleg dvds! While pounding his head against his computer, Griz had a sudden pain induced realization. Every street dancer and hip hop head Griz knew complained about this problem. If Griz built a dream store filled with all the best urban dance products, would it get enough community support to stay in business? With a burning desire to create a high quality resource for the street culture community, Griz decided to find out! Griz set to work, starting CypherStyles out of his Beloit College dorm room. Friends and family pitched in and helped CypherStyles quickly evolve from one BBoy's simple dream, to what is now the worlds largest street dance collective. Every week CypherStyles' ships out hundreds of videos to their growing community of CypherStyles crew members with street dance beating in their chests and running through their veins!
